Lancerman,

I am not following you on the PE. If you could just speel out what you mean by PE I would be greatly appreciative. I also have the TH350 wheel and not a ta31 gt30 wheel. As far as I know the GT35R has the same wheel as me.

Thanks for the info.

Lancerman,

What are you refering to as PE ratios? I am not up on the terminology.

Also I thought the GT30 has a TA31 wheel where as I have a TH350 common to the GT35R turbo, I think.

ex mani pressure/ in mani pressure
most people aren't measuring ex mani backpressure so most are in the dark what the numbers are suppossed to be. a 1/1 ratio is great for the track but will be unresponsive on the street. backpressure is what spools the turbo.

the gt40/th350 is very similiar to a gt35 turbo. the difference is one uses the th350 (stage 5) the other uses gt35 turbine. on a recent back to back the gt35 turbine made 2 more hp and 100rpm faster spool (600hp car). the gt35 turbine i am reffering to here is the non bb version. these were tested in pte 63 housing 5 bolt ford

Pressure Switch

ok, back to the cyclone intake discussion...

I talked to Matt from speednosis, a maker of a really nice ajdustable pressure switch. I got him to send me one at a reduced price so we can beta test it on our cylcones, and he said he'll discuss reduced group rates. I can't find a link that won't be dead after a couple days, but it's the black, gold plated one that is adjustable between 4-15psi, and is very accurate, much more so that the hobbs switch.

"The switch works normally open AND normally closed. Operating pressure of up to 60 psi, and fully adjustable with an allen key to turn ON or OFF from 4-15 psi"

I'll post a picture of it on my website as soon as it arrives.

yes, that's the same switch. I figured that link will be dead after a week so I didn't post it.

I have it set up using the "ho chi inn" method. I used that pressure switch, an old boost solenoid and the old fuel purge solenoid with the purple canister.

I still need to play with the psi setting on the pressure switch. It does seem smoother than before. I just don't know at what psi they are opening right now.

He said they were pre-set to 10psi, but I would check it with a mityvac and multimeter to be absolutely sure. Anybody can buy them now for $33, but we can get a group buy for less after we know it works with our setup.

If we could get this setup posted I would be glad to host it on my site with due credit of course. I think we can optimize it for what we're doing. Also, Jeff O said he has the JDM ecu but has never had time to go in and figure out exactly what parameters the cyclone is operating at. I'm sure pressure works great, but a mixture of MAP, throttle and rpm would be fully optimum.

Ok, delayed reaction on my part. Pictures of the pressure switch can be found on my webpage under DSM and Cyclone Intake page. There is also a diagram/cartoon of the pressure switch showing it's features and possible setup. I'm at least another week before my car is driveable with the ems so the cyclone tuning will obviously take a back seat. Marq4g63, anytime that is convenient for you with that vacuum canister is good for me. Maybe right after the new year.

this link may work, if so, this is a good diagram of the system:

http://www.3-points.com/rhertz/img.asp?id=2221

also, mopar part number 4677204 is a vacuum/one way cannister, costs 7 bucks, and may work. it might even be the same part. i have never seen it, but it has been discussed on the galantvr4 board.

The vacuum canister is a reservoir with a fixed volume and a one way valve. Can somebody measure the dimensions of there's, so we can estimate the internal capacity? Then you would go to a parts store and look in the emissions aisle, possibly adding a one way valve to it, if it doesn't already have one.

I too offer to host pics, and as soon as I get a canister or make one myself I'll be able to start trying out these methods and posting about it. All I have posted so far, other than portwork, is an old actuation diagram I made a couple years ago and pics of the pressure switch.

I'd also ask the moderators to change the name of this thread to Cyclone Intake Manifold Talk. Or something like that. There's also 270 posts with more than one question, so it's a bit outdated.

leng=2"

that mopar part number i gave IS a one way valve/resevoir. it is used for the wiper system on the dodge trucks, some sort of a delay. also, i am told there is another cannister on some of the other mitsu cars, like the diamante, that does the same thing. someone who needs one might want to take a look at what the mopar one is.

I haven't checked the vacuum capacity on it, but if someone can find the vacuum canister off of a CA18DE Nissan Pulsar they have a similar butterfly valve setup. The canister is black and mounted on the firewall...the solenoids are mounted underneath the airbox...there were three total I think. I'm going to try and get that to work once my head is back on, but if someone has the chance to do it let me know.

I just did the set up with the white and purple canister, two solenoids one normally open one and a normally shut one(both came of a volvo) dont know what they used them for but they are small and you could fit them in your pocket at the wreckers LOL! CHEAP!!! i linked them up as per one of the threads had a fairly simple picture that had a hobbs switch setup. I used my AEM to drive them. programed to open at 3500rpm, load of 60 plus, afr .75 up, tps 50%or more, engine temp 65f +, ait 10c +. and it is a different car it has been connected straight to the inlet plenum for the last 2 years what a mistake that was!!!!!! Thanks guys for all the info it has been great. I will have to redo my fuel map now since i started it with that set up it stumbles more than usual goes way two rich just driving normal now! but when you get around 4000rpm it goes and spool up (GREAT!!!) and it has nearly killed all the lag on gear changes. Thanks again and i did read all 272 posts on this thread.

What would happen if I took a cyclone intake manifold and removed the butterfly assembly and ported the end tank holes out to one big hole and knife edged the entrences to the runners in the second peice and did alittle port work here and there and ran it like that? It would be like putting a 4 valve head on a 2valve motor, the valves are smaller but since there are more it flows better and doesnt loose as much volocity. Or would it cause bad shit since the runners are different lengths? I wouldnt think it would matter since its not sucking air its blowing it in there and it fills every space with pressure. Its just an idea I am trying.
